Advocate Ethical Messages
During my Sophomore year at John Carroll I took a “Diversity in Media” course. This class opened my eyes and gave me a better understanding of what the proper was the address different ethnic groups. The class compared and contrasted different media examples of specific ethnic groups and educated us on which were done well, and which were not.
Evaluate Message
As the executive producer of JCTV, I must oversee all productions which includes reviewing scripts and recorded videos. During our monthly sports show I have to ensure that the message our host is effective and appropriate to the standard JCTV would like to be held to. JCTV also produces a late-night comedy show, and I must review the content and jokes to make sure they are ethical and wholesome.
Analyzing Audiences
During the summer of 2018, I had an internship at Shurtech Brands creating product videos demonstrating how to use their products, these videos were implemented as a marketing strategy to boost e-commerce sales. During this I learned how to produce a video that would send the message that their key demographic would benefit from using this product.
Communication Theories
Taking my passion for videography to, what I believe, would be the next level; I have recently begun the pre-production of a documentary of John Carroll University. This documentary will encapsulate the history of John Carroll, using archive footage from the North East Ohio Broadcast Archives and many other research assets.
